A view of our approach, not a scoring formula.

BUYERS FIRST

New to RightFirms.
Not new to their craft.

A company’s credibility begins before its profile does.

An established business may bring 10–15 years or more of experience, customers, certifications and a strong market reputation. Every company that goes live receives an initial company score; joining RightFirms does not mean starting at zero.

We call this broader company-level credibility signal the RightFirms Trust Score on this page. You may also see it referred to as a profile score.

Our goal is to help you shortlist with context: relevance, credibility, recency, completeness and evidence of expertise. Joining earlier or excelling at one isolated metric does not tell the whole story.

THE EVIDENCE BEHIND THE PROFILE

Multiple signals. One broader perspective.

Trust Score brings together more than activity on RightFirms. These are the kinds of evidence that inform our evaluation, not a checklist with equal weights.

Profile completeness

A complete, useful profile

Services, focus areas, company and team details, locations, certifications and portfolio information help buyers understand what a company does and where it fits.

Website & business maturity

Evidence of an established business

A company’s website can help our research team assess the depth, consistency and credibility of its business information and service positioning. Visual design alone does not determine quality.

Broader online signals

An active market presence

Relevant online information can provide evidence of an established, active business and help put its profile claims in context. The available signals can evolve over time.

Third-party reputation

Reputation beyond RightFirms

Where available, credible external reviews and reputation signals add perspective. Sources may include Clutch, Google Reviews, Upwork and other relevant platforms; presence on every platform is not required.

RightFirms reviews

The client’s experience

Genuine client reviews on RightFirms inform our understanding of delivery, company credibility and recent customer experience. They can contribute to Trust Score and ranking signals.

Review freshness

Evidence that stays current

Review recency, rating and quality help put past performance in context. Continued positive client experience gives buyers a more current picture than review count alone.

Human research adds context

Selected signals may be manually assessed by our research team, helping us interpret the evidence rather than treating credibility as a simple review average.

How research fits in

KNOW WHAT YOU ARE COMPARING

Three different signals.
Three different questions.

A review rating and a Trust Score describe different things. One does not replace the other.

ONE CLIENT EXPERIENCE

Individual Review Rating

The rating a client gives for one specific experience with a company.

“How did this project go?”

REVIEWS RECEIVED ON RIGHTFIRMS

Average User Review Rating

The aggregate of ratings received on the platform, shown in the context of client reviews.

“How do clients rate their experiences?”

THE BROADER COMPANY PICTURE

RightFirms Trust Score

A company-level credibility signal informed by profile completeness, maturity, reputation, reviews, freshness and research.

“What evidence supports this company’s credibility?”

Trust Score is not mathematically equivalent to an average review rating. Badges and directory positions are separate signals, too.

TRUST IS NOT STATIC

An initial score is a starting point.

A basic score recognizes available credibility. The strongest scores require substantially stronger, more recent evidence and continued profile maturity.

  1. 01

    Establish the picture

Existing experience, public business information and external reputation help inform the initial company assessment.

  2. 02

    Strengthen the evidence

Add meaningful expertise and portfolio information, current certifications and genuine client reviews.

  3. 03

    Keep earning confidence

Maintain accurate services, focus areas and locations, with recent client feedback and current market signals.

This is an evidence-building journey, not a set of score tiers. No single action guarantees a score increase.

WHY FRESHNESS MATTERS

Past performance is useful.
Recent experience adds perspective.

Ten reviews from five years ago and consistently positive recent feedback do not necessarily tell the same story. We value recency alongside review rating and quality because buyers need to understand what clients are experiencing today.

THE HUMAN PERSPECTIVE

Data-informed.
Human-reviewed.

Evidence needs context. Our internal research team may review publicly available company information, significant developments, relevant initiatives and credibility indicators.

Selected signals are manually assessed for consistency with claimed expertise, certifications and company information. Human assessment can influence the evaluation, which can be updated as relevant information changes.

This does not mean every signal for every company is continuously checked by a person.

QUESTIONS THAT ADD CONTEXT

Does the available information support the company’s claims?

Are certifications, business details and external signals consistent?

Do relevant developments change our understanding of the business?

READ THE RECOGNITION

Two badges. Different meanings.

Additional context for buyers, distinct from Trust Score and review ratings.

RightFirms reviewed this company’s profile, work, reviews, clientele, and public trust signals.Company-level verification

Additional review of company information

The Verified Profile badge indicates that important company and profile information has received additional verification by our internal research team before the badge is awarded.

Review can include profile details, the company website and external signals, reviews, certifications, team or company size, and locations. The team considers whether these details are consistent with the company’s public presence.

What it tells you

The company’s information has received additional scrutiny. It does not guarantee quality or remove project risk.

Recognized in this category for strong focus, consistent delivery, client feedback, and review signals.Category-specific recognition

Relevant expertise in a particular service

Category Leader recognition helps identify companies with strong relevance to the service you are browsing on a directory or listing page.

Assessment can consider service focus, relevant reviews, the volume and quality of category-related evidence, other credibility signals, and internal review. Recognition is subject to the relevant category’s eligibility and review process.

What it tells you

Recognition is specific to that category. It is not company-wide verification, an overall rating, or leadership in every service.

FROM COMPANY TO CATEGORY

The right context
for the right shortlist.

Directory ranking aims to surface companies that are relevant and credible for a buyer’s particular search. It is not simply “highest review count wins.”

Profile completeness matters alongside category fit, evidence of expertise and current information. A company’s relevance can vary by service and location.

01

Fit for the search

Service and category relevance, expertise and focus-area strength, plus location relevance where applicable.

02

Evidence from clients

Recent, relevant reviews; review quality and ratings; freshness and continued evidence of customer experience.

03

A credible, current profile

Completeness, certifications, accurate company information, and verified or researched signals where relevant, alongside other quality and relevance factors.

A LITTLE MORE CLARITY

Your questions,
answered.

The essentials about scores, research and recognition.

Is Trust Score the same as a review rating?

No. An individual review rating describes one client’s experience. An average user review rating brings together ratings received on RightFirms. Trust Score is a broader company-level assessment that can also consider profile information, market presence, external reputation and research signals.

Can a company new to RightFirms have a strong Trust Score?

Yes. A company may bring years of experience, established customers, certifications and a credible external reputation. Being new to RightFirms does not mean starting with zero credibility. Stronger scores require stronger supporting evidence.

How often can scores and rankings change?

Scores and rankings can change as relevant company information, reviews, public signals and research assessments change. There is no fixed update schedule promised here, and individual profile updates do not guarantee a particular score or position.

What does a Verified Profile badge mean?

It identifies company information that has received additional review by the RightFirms research team before the badge is awarded. It is separate from Trust Score and review ratings, and is not a guarantee of a project’s outcome.

Does Category Leader recognition apply to every service?

No. Recognition applies to the relevant category on a directory or listing page. A company’s expertise and supporting evidence can be stronger in one service than another; recognition in one category does not automatically extend to all its services.

TRANSPARENCY, ALWAYS

A useful starting point.
An informed decision is still yours.

Scores, rankings and publicly available signals can change. Our methodology can evolve as we improve our evaluation process, and companies should keep their profile information accurate and current.

Scores, badges and rankings are research and discovery signals, not guarantees of project results. Use them to build your shortlist, then review relevant work, speak with references and perform appropriate due diligence before choosing a provider.

We explain our signals and process while keeping proprietary weights, formulas and internal thresholds confidential.
